I have been a fan and follower of DUNU since I bought the five-driver hybrid DUNU DK-3001 Pro last year from HiFiGo. It was really close to my heart not only because it was a fantastic IEM, but also because it was bought from kind of my first earning back in the day and also that IEM marked my entry into the mid-high tier of audiophilia. Honestly, I have grown a lot since then and so does DUNU as a brand. DUNU has just introduced their much-awaited IEM, the EST112. They were actually teasing the EST112 for the past few weeks, and also carried it to multiple Audio Shows this year.
Unlike other hybrids that usually feature DD and BA drivers the EST112 is actually a tri-hybrid pair featuring a unique combination of DD+BA+EST drivers inside a single shell. It has a quad-driver configuration housing one powerful dynamic driver, one Knowles Balanced Armature driver, and two highly-resolving Sonion Electrostatic drivers. The pair has a price tag of 489.99$ it is close to my first DK-3001 Pro pricing and honestly, I am super interested to buy this one too. Let’s see if I can arrange funds for this one haha.
>Quad-Driver Tri-brid Setup:-
The DUNU EST112 features a quad-driver tribrid setup featuring one powerful DD unit, one high-performance custom-tuned Knowles BA driver, and two EST drivers from the house of Sonion. This is actually quite a unique configuration, the only other IEM that I know that features a similar configuration is the flagship from Kinera, Kinera Nanna.
>Large 13.5mm third-gen dynamic Woofer:-
The EST112 features a large 13.5mm dynamic driver that acts as the woofer in the configuration. It features a dual-sided beryllium coated thick diaphragm that has a fine texture. It provides an impactful, pounding bass response that shooks our soul with every single beat out there.
>Custom-tuned Knowles mid-high balanced armature driver unit:-
There’s a custom-tuned Knowles balanced armature driver that handles the mid-frequency response with the pair. Knowles is known for its high-quality balanced armature drivers usually found in mid-high tier IEMs. DUNU has been using its BA units in its hybrid for quite some time now.
>Two high-performance Sonion EST drivers:-
EST112 features two electrostatic tweeters from Sonion. They are highly-resolving and present the user with a superbly detailed sound output free from any kind of sibilance or harshness.
>All-new aluminum alloy body with stainless steel face panels:-
DUNU has designed the ear cavities in EST112 with utmost precision to provide a comfortable fit for most users. It is different from their usual rounded ear shells and has an ergonomic shape to them. The shells are made using a high-precision machining process with lightweight aluminum alloy material. A designer stainless steel faceplate is attached to the cavities improving the looks of the pair.
>SPC Litz cable with DUNU’s patented quick-switch module plug system:-
The EST 112 features a Silver-Plated Copper cable with DUNU’s patented Quick-Switch modular plug system. It allows easily switching the termination plug as per the user’s preference. Users get 3.5mm SE, 2.5mm Bal, and 4.4mm Bal termination plugs in the package. I actually loved this swappable termination plug system with my DK-3001 Pro too. DUNU includes such high-quality cables with almost all of his mid to high-tier IEMs.
>Frequency Response: 5Hz-40kHz.
>Impedance: 10 ohms.
Price & Availability:-
The DUNU EST112 will be available on pre-order starting 27th March. Shipments will officially begin from 31st March. You can pre-order it either from DUNU’s official website or from online stores such as HiFiGo, and more.
